Medical School Resources

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is a nonprofit association comprising the 125 accredited U.S. medical schools; the 16 accredited Canadian medical schools; more than 400 major teaching hospitals, including 70 Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers; over 90 academic and professional societies representing 75,000 faculty members; and the nation's medical students and residents. Below are some of the frequently used services and publications for applicants.

American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) is the
centralized application processing service for applicants to the first-year entering classes at participating U.S. medical schools. For the 2007 entering class, most medical schools use AMCAS as the primary application method.

• Application procedures and deadlines
• Selection factors such as MCAT & GPA data

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
Almost all U.S. medical schools require applicants to submit MCAT scores. Medical college admission committees consider MCAT scores as part of their admission decision process.

Dental School Resources

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA)is the leading national organization for dental education. Our members include all U.S. and Canadian dental schools,  advanced dental education programs, hospital dental education programs, allied dental education programs, corporations, faculty, and students.

Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS)
This service is available to all students applying to dental schools participating in the application service. AADSAS simplifies the application process by providing one standardized form, relieving students of the need to complete multiple applications. Dental schools benefit by receiving uniform information on all applicants.

Official Guide to Dental Schools
This guide contains detailed information about all of the U.S. and Canadian dental schools, such as characteristics of each program, including specialties and strengths; admission requirements and student selection factors; application timetables, estimated expenses, and financial aid available; comparison of applicants and matriculated students; and contact information for admission.

Opportunities for Minority Students in U.S. Dental Schools
Learn about the many opportunities that dental careers hold for minorities, the preparation necessary to be accepted for enrollment, and efforts to increase the number of underrepresented minorities enrolled in U.S. dental schools.

The American Dental Association (ADA) is the professional associaiton of dentists committed to the public's oral health, ethics, science and professional advancement.

Dental Admissions Testing (DAT) is administered on computer on almost any day of the year. The testing program is designed to measure general academic ability, comprehension of scientific information, and perceptual ability.

Pharmacy School Resources

American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) is the national organization representing the interests of pharmacy education and educators. Comprising all 92 U.S. pharmacy colleges and schools including more than 4,000 faculty, 46,000 students enrolled in professional programs, and 3,400 individuals pursuing graduate study, AACP is committed to excellence in pharmacy education.

Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) is designed to facilitate application to US colleges and schools of pharmacy. Through this centralized service applicants complete a single application and one set of official US and/or Canadian transcripts to apply to multiple PharmD degree programs.

Veterinary School Resources

Associaiton of American Veterinary Medical Colleges represents all veterinary medical colleges in the United States and Canada, nine departments of veterinary science, eight departments of comparative medicine, two animal medical centers, and four international colleges of veterinary medicine in its collective dealings with governmental bodies, veterinary medical organizations, the animal and human health industry, educational and scientific organizations and the public.
